Main Applications

Organic Synthesis Intermediates:

Used to prepare organoboron compounds, which are then used to construct carbon-carbon bonds via coupling reactions (such as the Suzuki reaction) to synthesize complex structures such as drug molecules and natural products (e.g., terpenes, steroids).

As a reagent precursor for hydroboration reactions, participating in the hydroboration-oxidation of alkenes and alkynes to prepare alcohols.

Materials Science Field:

As a raw material for preparing borate glasses and ceramics, used to synthesize boron-containing functional materials via sol-gel processes or chemical vapor deposition (CVD) to improve the heat resistance and mechanical properties of materials.

Used to prepare organic-inorganic hybrid materials, or as a metal surface treatment agent to enhance the adhesion of coatings.

Other Applications:

As a gasoline additive to improve the combustion performance of fuel;
